Richard Harrison
Richard
is of counsel to our Litigation Department.
Richard’s primary areas of practice include mortgage banking and financial
service litigation. A seasoned litigator, Richard represents investors,
lenders and mortgage bankers in Federal and State actions concerning
allegations of “predatory lending”, violations of Fair Lending Laws, the
Economic Opportunity Act (“ECOA”), RESPA, Truth in Lending and the Home
Owner’s Equity Protection (“HOEPA”). Richard represents lenders and brokers
before the New York State Banking Department and litigates state consumer
protection laws and mortgage banker/broker issues, with an emphasis on the
exercise of mortgage puts by investor/noteholders.
Richard
represents various lenders in the pursuit of insurance matters involving
allocation and recovery. He counsels and litigates on behalf of lenders
victimized by “homesaver” foreclosure schemes and he defends clients in a
wide range of enforcement actions, including audits and actions by
Government Sponsored Enterprises and Federal and State agencies for
indemnification, penalties and licensing suspensions. Richard frequently
lectures on mortgage and lending issues.
Richard
earned his law degree from Pace University School of Law, and is admitted to
the Bars of the States of New York and Florida.
