ERIC G. WAXMAN,
III, a partner in the Firm's Bankruptcy, Workout and
Restructuring Group, will be teaching Debtor/Creditor Law at
Hofstra University School of Law in Spring 2009.
GREG ZUCKER, a partner in the firm's Litigation
Department, was recently quoted in the New York Law Journal, as
part of the Realty Law Digest article discussing a brokerage
commission case. The featured case in the August 27, 2008
article described a favorable result obtained by Greg Zucker and
litigation partner DAN LYONS on behalf of the firm's
client. Congratulations to Greg and Dan for the great result!
August, 2008: Jeffrey A. Miller,
co-chair of the Firm's Commercial Litigation Department, ahs
been selected for the 2008-2009 "Honors Edition" of the Madison
Who's Who Among Executives and Professionals.
Eric G. Waxman III, a Partner in the Firm's
Bankruptcy, Workout and Restructuring Department, is teaching
Secured Transactions (UCC Article 9) at Touro College Jacob D.
Fuchsberg Law Center during the Fall Semester.
William Vita,
a partner in the litigation department, is moderating a panel
discussion on August 1, 2008, at the Federation of Defenses
and Corporate Counsel's Annual Meeting. Mr. Vita will be
joined by a distinguished group of panelists from both
national and international corporate legal departments and law
firms. The presentation is entitled: "60 Marketing Tips In 60
Minutes" and will center on how attorneys can successfully
build their practices.
Charles
Bilich, of counsel to the firm’s Corporate Department, will be
teaching Securities Regulation during the Fall semester at Touro
Law School.
Michael Gelfand, an attorney in the firm's Litigation
Department, has joined the coaching staff for the Iona College
Undergraduate Mock Trial Team. The team will compete in a number
of invitational tournaments in advance of a regional competition
in February 2009.
June, 2008: Alan C. Ederer,
a partner and chairman of the Firm's Corporate and Securities Department, was featured in
the Long Island Business News June feature titled "Who's Who in
Corporate Law."
Eric G. Waxman
III, a partner in the firm's Bankruptcy, Workout and
Restructuring Group, has co-authored a chapter entitled "Client
Strategies in Bankruptcy-Related Matters" in the recently
published Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring, Client
Strategies (Aspatore Books 2008).
Stuart S. Ball, the Co-Chairman of the firm's Real Estate
Department, represented Deer Park Enterprise LLC in connection
with a lease transaction with The Neiman Marcus Group, Inc. for
premises located at The Arches Tanger Outlet Center in Deer
Park, New York. This lease transaction was awarded as the "Top
Retail Lease" by Long Island Business News among its 2008 Real
Estate Awards for Deals of the Year. This lease transaction
brings the first Neiman Marcus retail store to Long Island.
March, 2008: Tom Draghi, Esq., a Partner
in the firm's Bankruptcy, Workout and Restructuring Department
and Chair of the Nassau County Bar Association's Bankruptcy
Committee, led a four-person CLE/CPE panel titled "Deciphering
Financial Statements and Analyzing Current Legal Issues," for an
audience including a number of the bankruptcy judges of the
United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New
York and several bankruptcy and turnaround professionals, at the
Coral House in Baldwin, New York. The event was jointly
presented by the Nassau County Bar Association, the Turnaround
Management Association, LI Chapter, and the New York Institute
of Credit.
February 29, 2008, William Vita, a partner in the litigation
department, will moderate a panel discussion at the Federation
of Defense and Corporate Counsel's Winter Meeting. The
topic is Alternative Billing Arrangements.
February 7, 2008: William Vita, a partner in the
litigation department, spoke at the Defense Research Institute's
2008 Product Liability Conference. Mr. Vita and Mark
Hickok, Principal Engineer at Milwaukee Electric Tools Company
made joint presentation on Harmonizing American Product
Standards with International Standards. The conference was
attended by over 1,000 attorneys from around the nation.
January 2008: Richard Gabriele, counsel to the Firm's
Litigation Department has been appointed by Governor Eliot
Spitzer to join the Board of Trustees for the Interest On Lawyer
Accounts Fund (the IOLA Fund). For over twenty years, the IOLA
Fund has used accumulated interest on IOLA accounts to help fund
not-for-profit programs that make civil legal assistance
available to nearly three million poor New Yorkers.
January 2008: John Westerman,
Managing Partner and Chair of the firm's Bankruptcy, Workout and
Restructuring Group, has graduated from the Inaugural Class of
the prestigious Energeia Partnership. The Energeia Partnership
is a leadership academy dedicated to identifying and addressing
the serious, complex, and multi-dimensional issues challenging
the Long Island region. Mr. Westerman has also been invited to
remain involved as a member of the Board of Advisors for the
Energeia Partnership.
January 2008: Jeffrey Silver, of counsel to the Firm in
the field of corporate tax and other tax law, will be the
featured speaker at the January 24th NCCPAP (National Conference
of CPA Practitioners) meeting at a seminar titled "Introduction
to International Tax Issues".

teaching 'Sales - UCC-Article 2' at Touro College Jacob D.
Fuchsberg Law Center in Central Islip, New York for the Spring
2008 semester.
January 1, 2008: Edward J. Bullard,
Jr. has been promoted to Partner in the Firm's Real Estate
Department. Ed represents owners, buyers, sellers, borrowers,
lenders and tenants in a variety of real estate transactions and
matters. He has significant experience with drafting and
negotiating commercial leases, with substantial expertise in
leases governing the operation of restaurants and retail
businesses. Ed also has experience in corporate transactions and
real estate commercial litigation.
January 1, 2008, Mickee M. Hennessy, a partner in
the firm's Bankruptcy Workout and Restructuring Department, has
been elected as Vice President, Legal Counsel for the Long
Island Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, an
international not-for-profit organization in the corporate
renewal industry.
December 2007: Jay Levinton, a partner in the firm's Real
Estate Department, was featured in the Long Island Business News
December feature titled "Who's Who in Commercial and Residential
Real Estate Law."
October 2007 - Jeffrey Miller, partner and co-chair of the
Firm's Litigation Department, has been featured in the Long
Island Business News publication of "Who's Who in Commercial
Litigation."
August 15, 2007 - Thomas Draghi, a partner in the firm's
Bankruptcy Workout and Restructuring Group, was quoted in
Newsday, in an article titled "IndyMac
Seeking American Home Mortgage Branches,"
discussing the sale of assets in the American
Home Mortgage Corp. bankruptcy case.
August 2007 -- Congratulations to the
Firm's Women's Team for placing first in the "Legal Challenge"
category of this year's Marcum & Kleigman Long Island Workplace
Challenge!

April 2007 - Mickee Hennessy, a
partner in the Firm's Bankruptcy Workout and Restructuring
Department, was admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme
Court at a ceremony held in Washington D.C.
